Less than 5% of small and medium-sized firms in Australia seem to collaborate with higher education or public research institutions and this lack of collaboration between business and academia could be a threat to Australian business.
History has shown us that Australian inventors and companies can be world leaders in innovation, but the successful commercialisation of their innovation has often happened outside of Australia.
That said, the Cisco Internet of Everything Innovation Centre (CIIC) is a newly established industry and research collaboration centre at Curtin University, that brings together start-ups, industry experts, developers and researchers in an open environment to create ground-breaking and innovative solutions.
